FAQs

Q: The CD that I have bought / have been given is faulty or has the wrong booklet. How can I exchange it for the correct version?
A: Please take the CD back to the retailer from whom it was purchased. The retailer should be able to exchange it for a correct CD or offer you a refund and will check that the rest of the stock has not been affected with the same problem. Standard procedures are in place for the retailer to return faulty stock to the local manufacturer.

Q: I bought the CD while out of town. How can I exchange it?
A: Most major music stores have branches around the world or on the Internet. Generally it is their policy to exchange product bought at other branches of their stores, even if these are overseas. Please contact the retailer for further information on the correct procedure for exchanging goods.
Q: Could I have a printed catalogue?
A: We no longer send out a printed version of the catalogue as our complete international catalogue is online and is kept constantly updated with new releases and deletions. It can be accessed from our website by clicking on "Catalogue". The database can be searched by a number of criteria including composer, artist, work, series and catalogue number.
Q: I've found a CD I want to purchase in your online catalogue, can I buy direct from your site?
A: We do not sell direct to consumers. You will find that EMI Classics' recordings are stocked by all major music stores in the high street and online.
Q: I'd like to buy online, but the online stores based in my country do not carry the CD I want in stock.
A: It's always worth trying the branch of an online retailer based in the country which produced the recording, i.e. fnac.fr for French artists/repertoire, audiostreet.co.uk or hmv.co.uk for British artists/repertoire, amazon.com for U.S. artists/repertoire, eurocd.de or bol.de for German artists/repertoire. These are just examples. Please see below for a link to more online music retailers.
Q: Can you recommend an online music retailer?
A: For links to online music retailers, click here.
Q: I've been unable to trace the CD I require in your online catalogue. How do I find out if it is still available?
A: If the recording is not in our online catalogue, this means that it is not a current international EMI Classics release. Was it released some time ago? If so, it is probable that it has been deleted. You may still be able to find the recording in a specialist archival or secondhand record store. Click here to link to a wide range of online music retailers specialising in out-of-print recordings.
Q: I know the record is available, but it's not in your online catalogue.
A: Is the recording definitely "classical"? If it could be classified as "pop" or "world music" or consists of local repertoire and artists, please access our "Links" page for details of other EMI companies and labels with their own websites.
Q: I'd like to have information about local repertoire and recording artists. Who should I contact?
A: Click here for the addresses of EMI companies in some of the major markets
Q: Why can't I find the Classics for Pleasure series in your catalogue?
A: Classics for Pleasure is the budget label of EMI Classics UK, although its titles are also available in some other territories. It has its own website - www.classicsforpleasure.com - which can be visited by clicking here.
Q: Why is it that some of the CDs in the "Latest Releases" section of your site have been available in my local retail store for several weeks already?
A: Not all our EMI companies around the world release our new titles as soon as they become available. Each company releases CDs on a date which is appropriate for its local market and this can sometimes be several months after the title is first released in its 'patron' market. The EMI Classics website is an international one and as such aims to publicise releases once they are available to consumers in most, if not all, of the major international markets.
Q: I'm looking for the music score for a piece recorded by EMI Classics. Can you provide it?
A: We record music published by many different music publishers and you will need to contact the relevant music publisher for access to the score. (If the work is in copyright, the name of the publisher is generally indicated in the CD booklet.)
Q: I have a demo CD which I would like to submit to EMI. To whom should I send it?
A: In the first instance please contact the local EMI company in your country of residence.
Q: I want to work for EMI. How do I apply for a job?
A: Please contact the local EMI company in your country of residence.
Q: I wish to contact one of your artists or receive a signed photograph.
A: For obvious reasons we are unable to publicise contact addresses for our artists and do not carry a stock of signed photographs. However, we will be happy to forward any messages you may wish to send to our artists, although we can't guarantee a reply.
