British cellist Richard Harwood has a passion for duo and chamber music and has worked with the pianists Christoph Berner, Julius Drake and Connie Shih and as a chamber musician with Gidon Kremer, Yuri Bashmet, the Endellion Quartet, and Alexander Sitkovetsky among others.
He made his BBC Radio 3 debut precociously early, at the age of thirteen, with a live recording of the Elgar Cello Concerto. He has also given performances for Radio France and MDR in Germany.
Richard’s many awards include the Audi Junior Musician, the Pierre Fournier Award, and becoming the first British cellist ever to be awarded the title "Bachpreisträger" at the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig.
Richard plays a cello by Francesco Rugeri, dated 1682.
